Whoa Creep Factor!

I found a diary from the 80’s in my attic today. It’s my mom’s sister’s, my Aunt Aubrey (I’m named after her). I never knew her, though, because she died in January 1985. She committed suicide. How creepy is that? It’s weird to be reading her final thoughts, things she wouldn’t tell anybody. The thoughts that made her kill herself… Anyways, I just started reading it, and it starts today, only 26 years ago! I’ll see if I can find some old pictures of her, and post them on here, too.

Here’s the first entry:

September 10, 1984

Dear Diary,

We have new neighbors. There’s two kids- a boy and a girl who look like they’re my age. The girl is gorgeous, like Margot Kidder. I wish I had dark brown hair like that. I hate being a redhead. The guy is totally hot, too, like Harrison Ford. I watched them move in all day, but, of course, I was too shy to go over to introduce myself. What is wrong with me? I’m seventeen, you’d think by now I could go over and say “Hi” or something. But no. I’m a fat dumb creepy loser who hides behind her curtains. Belinda went over and introduced herself. Why can’t I do that?

Don’t you think that’s morbid? I doubt your mom will appreciate you posting her sister’s personal thoughts online… But then, does she know about your blog? Keri’s right, tho. That first entry is kind of boring. I see she’s foreshadowing her own death already.

@ Keriberi: Yeah, she did. She jumped into the quarry (before they filled it up with water) My mom (yeah, she’s Belinda) said she was ‘troubled’. Ya think? ;-D And I totally couldn’t wait, so go look at the post again, I uploaded her picture!

She wasn’t fat. Not skinny, like… who was famous for being skinny back then? Tracey Gold? She had that anorexia movie that’s on Lifetime all the time. She’s more like… the fat Olsen Twin. Which one is that? Ashley?
